How to frame fabric

This handkerchief was my Grandmothers, which was given to me by my Aunt Amy. She knew I would love it because of the tiny violet flowers embroidered around the edge considering my daughters name is, Violet. I wanted to keep this safe as well as display it in Violets room. In order to frame this piece of fabric I need to pull out my sewing kit.

I cut a piece of acid free mat board and placed it behind the handkerchief. I took my time to sew the fabric onto the board by piercing around the flowers so it wouldn’t be obvious where the new pieces of string were added.

I picked a bright green paper as my background to pull out to color of the flower stems and floated the board in the center of the frame. I added spacers on the sides so the glass did not touch my handkerchief and closed it up.

Ready for this baby to be hung on Violets wall! (Sorry for the glare in the glass with this photo)

Pop that color!

When I first took a look at this beautiful painting I was taken back by the color brilliance. My first thought was, I MUST PULL THIS COLOR OUT IN THE MATING!

So I took my watercolor paper and cut it into strips. I also took this fun black paper with a light silver pattern and cut that up as well….

My thought was to wrap this paper around a 3 mm board to slightly pull the intense color out of the painting…

After wrapping the board I added a white mat that matched the watercolor paper and framed it with a sienna colored wood frame. I chose the sienna color to pull out the skin color of the woman in the painting because I wanted to keep it simple.

It’s hard to visualize, but this frame ended up being 2 feet by 5 feet. I was very happy with the results. Thanks for the trust with this beauty, Caroline!

Frame a Fun Idea!

It all started with a friend and an idea to frame 1000 paper cranes for an anniversary present. It took 2 years to complete.

Creative gifts with Paper!

When my ocean loving friend had a baby girl I felt the need to provide the nursery with fun mermaid inspired artwork.

I provided the mermaid and paper-wrapped frame. My talented friend wrote these sweet words.

My daughter painted the watercolor, while I used the same gold paper to create the mother-daughter mermaids framed in an oval gold frame.
