How to frame fabric

This handkerchief was my Grandmothers, which was given to me by my Aunt Amy. She knew I would love it because of the tiny violet flowers embroidered around the edge considering my daughters name is, Violet. I wanted to keep this safe as well as display it in Violets room. In order to frame this piece of fabric I need to pull out my sewing kit.

I cut a piece of acid free mat board and placed it behind the handkerchief. I took my time to sew the fabric onto the board by piercing around the flowers so it wouldn’t be obvious where the new pieces of string were added.

I picked a bright green paper as my background to pull out to color of the flower stems and floated the board in the center of the frame. I added spacers on the sides so the glass did not touch my handkerchief and closed it up.

Ready for this baby to be hung on Violets wall! (Sorry for the glare in the glass with this photo)
